Matador display plate I am not a fan of bullfighting, but this is a superb piece. Slightly smaller than a dinner plate, it has a crenated margin and embossed and handpainted picture of a matador in the middle of his gory business. Presumably late fifties or early sixties, judging by the rounded triangular shape. Mint condition with no damage or crazing. With tripod marks on the back. Rare. Value: £5 Also seen in the same shape is a dish painted with a couple of Spanish dancers on a white ground with the artist's name D. A. NIXON on the front. |

Zebra-stripe Stripes on Kelsboro Ware were either brown and underglaze, or black overglaze. In addition to the designs below, Kelsboro Ware also produced zebra patterns on large flower holders shaped like an inverted pyramid, vases shaped like a stick of marrow bone, triangular serving dishes with a zebra-patterned fork, coffee sets, and zebra-stripe TV sets (plate with a recess holding a cup). The cups on these TV sets may have yellow or green interiors (Waterloo Ware made identical pieces). None of the Kelsboro pieces is common. For more zebra stripe items, see Arthur Wood, Beswick, Midwinter, Poole, Ravelli, Zebra Miscellaneous and Zebrette.

Jug with finger grips Marked RUBY LNAP, and resembling Kelsboro Ware zebra patterns. The stripes are very broad, almost covering the white ground. I don't know anything about the manufacturer but the jug does resemble a Kelsboro ware jug shown on this site. Rare. Value: £5 |
