Zebrette (c. mid 50s - early 60s) The zebrette range of vases and fancies is scarce, and some would say, more stylish than the outrageous Beswick zebra pieces. Zebrette has yellow only as the interior colour (exterior on the flat dishes), carries the Lancaster and Sandland backstamp, and is well-designed. In addition to the styles below, watch out for a 3-tier cake stand, boomerang dish, cactus pot, tricorn dish, jugs, spherical ashtray resembling an igloo, plant pot with drainage hole, angular hourglass-shaped vase, gravy jug and plate, bottle with zebra-capped cork stopper, and a smoker's box with lid. Very rarely seen with the stripes in yellow (a cruet for example). The zebrette trade name is listed as being current in the 1963 Pottery Gazette.

Sandland I'm not sure what the relationship between Sandland and Lancaster and Sandland is so I put this one here. Please email me if you know any more about this.

Martell Cognac jug
(? 1960s or 70s) Mint condition, apart from a slight scuff to the black glaze on the arm. The cigar is undamaged (always check). These pieces are common, but fetch good prices. The stamp looks 60s or 70s but I'm not sure. Help! Value: £30-60 |
